HI, I'M SAM

Throughout my childhood I was fascinated by photography. I watched my mom take photos of the world around us and develop her own skills as I grew, until I eventually started photography myself after getting my mom's old DSLR and film cameras.

I started seriously studying photography in 2014 while in school for architecture. I focused mainly on architectural photography, street photography, and portraits. Following college, while maintaining architecture as my main career, I started to branch more into portrait, engagement, wedding, family, and couple shoots.

My favorite moments with my camera though have always been the in-between moments, when I was out wandering in a city or hiking through the Midwest, just able to truly focus on capturing what I was seeing and what I was feeling.

In 2021 I moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado after many years of longing to be in the mountains. Once I arrived, I truly fell in love with landscape photography. With all of the outdoor activities in the world to keep me busy, I found myself most often waking early to catch the sunrise, sitting in a grass field or perched with my tripod on a rocky outcropping watching the mountains around me start to wake up with the sun. Those meditative moments are what I live for now.

I love to share my process and thoughts on photography and what it gives us and what it means for us and to us. I am excited to continue to grow a community here as I share my thoughts and photos and journey.
